Adelaide "Adde" Dawn Hoag, 71, of Cape Carteret, NC, died Friday, April 29, 2016, at Carolina East Medical Center, New Bern, NC
Born and raised in Oneonta NY, Adde was the daughter of Percy and Winifred Young. A devoted Wife, Mom and Grandma, she spent her later years near her family in Cape Carteret, N.C. She spent 36 years working for Bendix in Sidney, N.Y., a career she loved and often spoke about. Defiant and strong Adde was the rock that protected her family. If there was a party, she was at the center. If there was a joke, her laugh was the loudest. She could shop with the best of them but only if she was getting a gift for someone else. She loved a good beer and could talk car racing with anyone. She had the wisdom that only a life, fully lived, could possibly provide. There are no words for how much she will be missed and the impact she had on her friends and family. Oh she had so many friends. Too many to count!
She is survived by her loving husband, Russell Harvey Hoag, of Cape Carteret; one daughter, Kimberly Nelson and husband Michael of Angier; two sisters, Connie Gallup of Oneonta, NY, and Lori Ohl of Rio Rico, AZ; three grandchildren, Gavin , Lindsey and Owen Nelson of Angier and the King of the house, her beloved dog Rover.
Her parents precede her in death.
A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta, NY.
Burial will follow at the Hamden Cemetery
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 1990 Fordham Drive, Suite 100, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
