EAST MEREDITH – Andrea A. Schleicher, 73, passed away on July 26, 2019 at her home with her family by her side, after a battle with cancer.

She was born September 12, 1945 in Mt. Vernon, New York, the daughter of John Andrew and Agnes Cowan (Rawstron) Schleicher.

In 1963, Andrea graduated from A.B. Davis High School in Mt. Vernon, and in 1967 received a Bachelor's degree from Framingham State College in Massachusetts. Over time Andrea completed her Master's degree and was a teacher for the public-school district in Framingham, Massachusetts, retiring in 2003.

Andrea was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Bell Choir. During retirement she enjoyed all the things she loved to do, especially sewing, embroidering, cooking and baking for both the church, family and friends.

She is survived by her sister, Helen and James Varco of Harpersfield, NY; her brother, J. Gordon and Marjorie Schleicher of Mason, MI; nieces and nephews, Paul, Noel, Wendy, Marcia, Andrew, Kim and James Jr. and their families.

She was predeceased by her parents.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m., August 16, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, 66 Chestnut St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Marti Swords-Horrell, officiating. The inurnment will be at the church's columbarium.
