Oneonta - Aneilia J. Mead "Nini" was born July 2, 1929 at the Parshall Hospital in Oneonta, the daughter of Evelyn and Benjamin Blowers.

Nini graduated from Oneonta High School in 1947.

She married Richard J. Mead "Dick" at the old Elm Park Methodist Church. They were married for 63 years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Dick on October 26, 2011; her father, Benjamin Blowers; mother, Evelyn Nichols; stepfather, Vern Nichols; mother and father-in-law, Helene and James Mead and her sister, Carol VanDusen.

Nini is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Sharon Mead; grandson, Andy Mead (her pride and joy); nephew, David VanDusen and niece, Kay VanDusen Ward.

She worked at the West End Supermarket as a young woman. She worked with her husband at JR Mead & Son, Meat Processing Plant. Nini also worked with her son Jim in his business, Mead's Reloading and Gun Supply as the bookkeeper.

Nini's life centered around her family and her home. She loved flowers and tending her yard.  She could be seen each spring planting flowers and often mowing her yard.

Nini and husband, Dick were avid motorcycle riders. They traveled across the United States and Canada, riding their Harley and pulling a small pop-up camper.  They traveled with groups of friends and alone.

Nini had many friends throughout her life. She continued to make new friends when she moved to Cooperstown Center.  She lived at the Center for nearly two years and was cared for by many wonderful staff.

One of her friends, Doug Bennett took her on a motorcycle ride every year on her birthday from 2013 through 2019, when she was 90 years old.

Sadly, she contracted COVID at the Cooperstown Center and after a nearly 3-week battle passed away December 26, 2020 at Bassett Medical Center ICU. She had wonderful caring staff attend to her at Bassett.

Nini was full of life all of her life. She will be missed.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday May 21, 2021 at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, with the Rev. Judith Thistle officiating.
