WORCESTER – Anne Hren, 86, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at The Otsego Manor, Cooperstown after an extended illness.
She was born December 14, 1928 on Algerine Hill in East Worcester, the daughter of Rudolf and Mary (Gergich) Dedek.
She married Anthony (Tony) Hren on June 30, 1951 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Worcester.
Mrs. Hren was the Worcester Central School Secretary to the Principal for 30 years.
She was a lifelong resident of Worcester and Decatur. She was a member of the Worcester Women's Club in the 1950's. After retirement, Anne became an avid quilter and joined a local quilting group. She was a voracious reader who enjoyed learning and encouraged this in her children. Anne also enjoyed writing and penned humorous stories, much to the delight of her family. She also loved gardening and took great pride in the property she and her husband spent years developing and caring for.
She is predeceased by her husband, Tony Hren; and parents, Rudolf and Mary Dedek.
She is survived by her children, Yvonne Cross of Worcester, Sheryl Hren of Oneonta, Anthony Hren of Perry, MA, Celeste Rundblad of Decatur, and Michelle Hren of Decatur; grandchildren, Judson (Amy) Cross of Woodstock, CT, Alicia Kingsbury of Elmira, Jesse Klee of Cooperstown, Kristen Banhart of Decatur, Alexandria Hren of Corona del Mar, CA; great-grandchildren, Marley, Christopher and Jack Kingsbury of Elmira, Benjamin, Georgia, and Delaney Cross of Woodstock, CT, Lyla, and Abigail Banhart of Decatur; Anne's remaining siblings, Sofran Bengtson of Cooperstown, Dennis Dedek of Worcester, and Janet Del'Olio of Rhinebeck; also survived by Elsie Conte of Worcester, John Hren of Walton and Henry (Jean) Hren of Decatur; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours.
The funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Ronald Green, MM as celebrant.
Interment will be at the Decatur Cemetery at a later date.
