SCHENEVUS – Anthony J. Dulkis, 79, passed away peacefully at
his home on Sunday, February 1, 2009 surrounded by family.
He was born January 7, 1930 in Newark, NJ, the son of Adam and Constance Dulkis.
He moved to this area in 1945 and attended Draper Central
School in Schenevus, where he was a well known area athlete in the graduating class of 1948.
On December 17, 1950 he married Florence Chermack at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Worcester.
Tony owned and operated a local dairy farm, since 1950,
where he and Florence
lived and raised their children. He later became a skilled tradesman and retired a member of the International Painters and Allied Trades Union.
He was a hardworking and devoted husband, father grandfather and great-grandfather. He was dearly loved by his family.
Tony was an avid reader and a passionate political
commentator. He had a love for the outdoors where he spent most of his day. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and tending the many varieties of fruit trees and vegetables.
He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers Albert,
Joseph and Victor.
He is survived by his wife, Florence; one sister, Agnes
Stankunas of Missouri; a cousin, Val Dulkys of Lithuania; three daughters, Barbara and Victor Rollinger of New Port Beach, CA, Dianne and Edward Knapp of Schenevus, and Sue of Schenevus; three sons, David and Katty of Corona, CA, Jim
and Martha of Claremont, CA and Tony and Julie of Irvine, CA; grandchildren, Michelle and Ed Munoz, Mark and Jennah Scofield, Laura Rollinger, Andrea Knapp and Randy McGregor, Melinda and Larry Bobnick, Brian Knapp and Sandy Truesdell,
Jeremy Dulkis, Nathan and Lucas Dulkis, Diego Castro, Neetu and Namrita George; great-grandchildren, Luke, Noah, Isabella, Riley, Sawyer, Reanna, Kendall,
Madeline and Griffin; also sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen and Luella, as well as
many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday,
February 5, 2009 at the Heller Funeral Home in Schenevus. The family will be in attendance from 7 to 9
p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Friday, February
6th, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church,Main St., Worcester,
with the Reverend John P. Rosson, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cooperstown, as celebrant.
