Obituary

DECATUR – Anthony (Tony) Hren, 88, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Otsego Manor.

He was born October 10, 1924 in Decatur, the son of Leo and Antoinette (Skerl) Hren.

He married Anne Dedek on June 30, 1951 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Worcester.

Tony was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II, where he was wounded during combat and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of Timberwolves Infantry Division.

Tony was a General Contractor in the Worcester area for most of his life. He also worked as a Highway and Town Supervisor in Decatur.

He was a member of the Schenevus VFW, having served as Post Commander for a period of time.

He survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Anne Hren; children, Yvonne Cross of Oneonta, Sheryl Hren of Oneonta, Anthony (TJ) Hren of Dalton, MA, Celeste Rundblad of Decatur, and Michelle Hren of Onondaga; grandchildren, Judson Cross and wife, Amy of Woodstock, CT, Alicia Kingsbury of Elmira, Jesse Klee of Oneonta, Kristin Banhart of Decatur, Alexandria Hren of Costa Mesa, CA; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Georgia and Delaney Cross, Marley, Christopher, and Jack Kingsbury, Lyla and Abigail Banhart; also his siblings, John Hren, Henry (Jean) Hren, and Elsie Hren Conte; in addition Tony leaves numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, and siblings, Leo, Joseph and Marie.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial mass will be 11 a.m., April 2, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Ronald Green, MM, as celebrant.

Burial with military honors will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Decatur Cemetery.
