Arleen Dedek, 64, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the Albany Medical Center in Albany.

Arleen loved life … she loved people. She loved her daughter, son, husband, sister, sister's family, employees, extended family and friends. Even in her final minutes, she cherished those by her side with a tender passion. Arleen is now in a better place. She was a strong person and lives on in those she left behind.

Arleen was born on August 14, 1946 in Schenevus, NY; the daughter of Raymond and Anna (Gill) Schmiedel.

She married Dennis Dedek on August 22, 1969 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schenevus.

Arleen was a legal secretary for a variety of area attorney's for many years. Her last legal position was with VanHorne, Fury & Gozigan in Cooperstown. She left there to assist running the family business' of The Center and The Hometown Ad-Vantage in Worcester.

She was a past member of the OES in Schenevus and the Worcester Bowling League.

Arleen is survived by her husband Dennis Dedek of Worcester; her daughter, Denilee Dedek formerly of Boston; her son, Ivan Dedek of London, England; and her sister, Mary Hynes and her husband Tom of Roxbury.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Pat Fuller and her brothers, Dick and Jerry Schmiedel.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel in Worcester with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle officiating. Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to the Schenevus Masonic Lodge for a time of fellowship and refreshment.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
