Oneonta - Arthur "Artie" Spranger, 78, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
Artie was born on March 16, 1936 in Union City, NJ, the son of the late Henry and Grace (Lawrence) Spranger.
He married Elanor J. Cohn on October 13, 1962 at the Schenevus Baptist Church.
Artie worked for Wightman Lumber for over 30 years.
He also served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1959.
He moved from Union City, NJ to Maryland, NY when he was 16.
Artie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elanor Spranger; his beloved daughter, Kelly Spranger Benjamin; his son, Ronald Spranger and wife, Kristin; 4 grandchildren, Jack Benjamin, Taylor Spranger, Erika Spranger and Ryan Spranger; his sister, Arlene Spranger Kopp and his brother, Lewis Buriello and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Janet Spranger Weinbrecht, Joan Spranger Mann and Margaret Spranger Smeyers and his brothers, David Spranger and Gary Buriello.
Per Artie's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services at this time.
