Obituary

MANHATTAN – Athanasia S. Johnson, 78, died Monday, February 13, 2012 at her home.

She was born April 20, 1933 in Dedham, MA, the daughter of Samuel A. and Jane S. (Polites) Johnson.

Athanasia grew up in Oneonta and spent most of her adult life in New York City.

She is survived by two sisters, Eugenia McGrath of Minneapolis, MN and Pauline Collier of Ft. Myers, FL; two nieces, Joanne Gennaro and Susan Sommer, both of Ft. Myers, FL and a nephew, Thomas McGrath of Los Angeles, CA.

She was predeceased by her husband, Tage Palmgren and her parents.

Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.

A graveside service will be held at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 11:30 a.m.
