Obituary

Oneonta - Heaven gained an angel when Barbara (Neill) Brandt passed on from this life to her heavenly home on May 2, 2024.

Barbara was born Sept 2, 1938 in Weatherford TX and attended Weatherford High School. She moved to Sidney, NY in 1973 where she attended the First Baptist Church for many years, arranging flowers for the offertory table and singing in the choir. She was co-owner of the Masonville General Store from the mid-70s to early 80s. She went to  work at Bendix (now Amphenol) in 1980 until her retirement in 1988. She attended SUNY Delhi as a non-traditional student where she received a degree in Business Administration.

In 1995, she married David Brandt and they made their home in Oneonta, NY where she attended Hill City Church, playing the piano and organ for many years. She and David traveled the country attending fly fishing shows where she beamed with pride watching "The Legend" tie flies. They drifted down rivers in Montana and other states with their beloved Boston Terrier Peggy Sue in tow. She loved sitting on river banks with Peggy Sue watching David fly fish. She learned to cast at the Wulff School of Fly Fishing so that she and David could fish together.

Barbara worked at the Southside Mall Office, Gary's Flowers, and Wyckoff Florist in Oneonta for several years making beautiful corsages and arrangements. Barbara was always busy; she loved doing crossword puzzles, playing cards on Saturday nights with very special brothers and sisters-in-law, gardening, reading and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy every evening; she especially loved spending quality time with her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren loved going to "Mimi's" house where they received lots of love and attention and special goodies. She was an extremely talented crafter and seamstress and loved clothes, shoes, and fashion. She was always dressed to the nines as a proper Southern Lady would be!

Barbara is survived by her brother, Jerry (Vickie) Neill; her children, Michael (Lynn) Palombo, Terry (David) Dundon and Karen (Ralph) Bidwell; David's children, David M. Brandt and Deborah (Patrick) Prendergast; her grandchildren, Michele Mohrien, Kristin Mohrien, Robert (Cindy) Ackerley, Sean (Liz) Collins, Peter (Caitlin) Ferrante, Anthony Ferrante and Kristen Yale; David's grandchildren, Rebecca (Shane) Lanahan, PJ Prendergast,  and Tucker Brandt; her great-grandchildren, Miles and Spencer Mohrien, Lillian and Jaxon Flow, Kaitlynn, Jacob and Claire Collins, Nate and Aliviah Ackerley, Leah Mathewson and Jace Hartman. She is also survived by her special cousin, Norma Russell and special daughter-in-law, Dee Dales and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, David S. Brandt; her parents, Clifford and Geneva Neill; her brothers, Larry and James Neill; her very special nephew, Chad Neill, and David's grandson, Austin Brandt.
