Carla D. Norton, 64, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
She was born July 2, 1946 in Oneonta, the daughter of Martin J. and Edith C. (Sperry) Delello. Carla married James Norton on February 29, 1980 in Milford.
Prior to working several years at the Milford Central School as a bus driver and Librarian's assistant, Carla was a waitress in local restaurants, most notably the Homestead in Colliersville. Many people will remember Carla as an accomplished seamstress who not only did repairs and made quilts, curtains and clothing, but also attended several craft shows as a successful vendor. She enjoyed traveling with her family, swimming, snorkeling, water and snow skiing. She could often be found on the lake teaching waterskiing and boating safety.
Carla is survived by her beloved husband, James Norton of Cooperstown; a sister, Linda and Edward Stringer of Oneonta, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Betty and James McAdams, Ivan and Sue Norton, Leo and Annell (Kreck) Norton, Ruby Norton, Carl and Debbie Norton, Rae and Fred Glock, Rose Norton and Terry Norton, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents as well as her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo and Wava Norton.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta, from 10 a.m. to Noon. The memorial service will be at Noon, with the Rev. Mary Ellen Moore, pastor at the Milford United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.
