Obituary

MARYLAND – Carlton J. Morrell, 68, passed away, Saturday, December 5, 2009 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born October 4, 1941 in Harpersfield, the son of Arthur and Alfredia (Moxham) Morrell.

He married his partner of 19 years, Michell Cohn Smith on May 11, 2002 in Schenevus.

Carl started working in 1960 for Farmer's Feed Co. in Schenevus until 1965; was a farm hand at Sheffield Farms 1965-1967, Harold Hayes Farm 1967-1972, West Nesbitt 1972-1989 and from 1989 till retirement worked for Riddell Brothers as a truck driver.

He enjoyed farming, his old Desoto, driving horses, bus trips, playing Uno with friends, watching wrestling and playing with his grandkids.

He belonged to the No Name Gang, the Wanderer's Club, Susquehanna Valley Seniors and Schenevus Young at Heart.

He is survived by his wife, Michell A. Morrell; siblings, Beatrice Wahl, Marie and Harry Fries, Peggy and Bob Collins; his children, Scott and Andrea, Sam and Aileen, Jeff, Amber and Corey; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Alyse, Faith, Christina, Rosie, Michael, Sam, Katelyn, Michelle and Laura; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother-in-law, George Wahl, cousin, Raymond Morrell and grandson, Walter LaPlant.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2009 at the Heller Funeral Home in Schenevus.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, chaplain at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, officiating.
