SCHENEVUS - Carolann Oberacker Bak, 70, passed away Friday, May 15, 2009 in Palm Desert, California from a short illness.

She was born September 11, 1938 in Long Island, the daughter of Philip Karl and Beverly Agnes (Schreiber) Wendel.

She married Peter K. Oberacker on May 15, 1960 in Merrick. He predeceased her. Carol married John J. Bak on December 11, 2005 in Hartwick.

Carol was a resident of Schenevus for 44 years.

She served as Town Justice for the Town of Maryland for 25 years.

She was a member of the New York State Magistrates Association, the Order of the Eastern Star and the C.H. Graham Hose Women's Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, John J. Bak of Schenevus; children, Cynthia (Michael) West of Middleburgh, Peter (Shannon) Oberacker of Schenevus, Cheryl Oberacker Delello of Oneonta and Karl Oberacker of Oneonta; grandchildren, Zachary West, Holli Oberacker, Derek Oberacker, Ashley Delello and Kragh Delello; 3 step-children, Joseph Bak and his daughter, Emily; Wendy Difazio and her husband, William and their children, Nicholas, John, and William Elvis; Catherine Bak; and sister-in-law, Adeline Reilly Bagnasco.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Heller Funeral Home, Schenevus.

A memorial service will be Thursday, June 4, 2009 11 a.m. at the Schenevus United Methodist Church, Main Street, Schenevus, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, officiating.

Interment will follow at the Schenevus Cemetery.
