ONEONTA – Charlene P. Donnell, 68, passed away unexpectedly at home on October 10, 2026. 

She was born October 9, 1958, the daughter of Charles Francis and Marlene Jeanene (Winters) Pidgeon. 

Charlene graduated from Oneonta High School, Class of 1977, and Albany Business College. She worked in business management for several area companies and was currently employed at Carpet Plus in Oneonta. 

Char was a member of the 6th Ward Athletic Club, the local Dart League, and the Oneonta Elks Lodge, where she served as treasurer for the last five years. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and beloved cats. She enjoyed attending her nieces' and nephews' sporting events and always looked forward to spending time at the lake. 

Charlene is survived by her son, Kevin Michael Donnell; her mother, Marlene Pidgeon; her siblings, Michael Pidgeon, Patrick Pidgeon (Judith Sweet), Brian and Sherry Pidgeon, Cathlene Pidgeon, Colleen Erbe (Clifton Payne); nephews, Chris, Jason, Ryan, Matthew and Jacob Pidgeon; nieces, Emily Pidgeon, Carleen Erbe and Caitlyn Steenrod; the father of her sons, Mike Donnell; her cousin and best friend, Milyanda Pidgeon; close friend, Thomas Cicio; and several cousins. 

She was predeceased by her son, Robert Donnell; her father, Charles Pidgeon; and her sister-in-law, Carol Pidgeon. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta. 

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, at the funeral home, with Deacon Paul Cerosale officiating, followed by an Elks Lodge of Sorrow Service. Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
