Oneonta – Charles M. Rizzo, 97, passed away January 30, 2021 at A.O. Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta.

He was born December 30, 1923 in Brooklyn, the son of Carlo Salvatore and Sofia (Notaro) Rizzo.

He married Dorothy Sammon on March 23, 1953 in Carteret, NJ. She predeceased him on July 23, 1997.

Charles was a United States Navy veteran, serving during World War II and Korea.   He was a former Postal Inspector in New York City until moving to Oneonta in 1975 where he obtained an RN degree and did private daily nursing in the area.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a life member of the American Legion Post 259.

He is survived by his son, Dennis Rizzo and his daughter, Diane Rizzo.

Private interment will be at the Long Island National Cemetery.
