Charles W. Spencer, 54, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

He was born on November 15, 1956 in Port Jefferson, NY, the son of Stanley and Bertha (Brown) Spencer.

Charlie married Susan LeCount on May 19, 1979 in East Northport, NY.

He worked at Susquehanna Glass and Tri-County Glass in Oneonta. Recently Charlie owned and operated the Westford General Store.

Moving from Lake Ronkonkoma, Charlie has been a area resident for 26 years.

He loved hunting, fishing and classic rock music.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Susan of Westford; his sons, Luke Spencer of Westford, Matthew Spencer and his wife, Christen of Syracuse, Christopher Spencer and his wife, Andrea of Westford and Charles Spencer Jr. of Westford; his brothers, Jack Spencer and his wife, Jo of Westford and Fred Spencer of North Carolina; his sister, Cynthia Klingensmith and her husband, John of Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents.

A graveside service will be held at the Westford Cemetery 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 28, 2011, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, officiating.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, January 15, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Heller Funeral Home, 25 Arch St. in Schenevus.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in loving memory of Charlie to the Westford Community Association, 477 Strong Hill Road, Schenevus, NY 12155.
