ONEONTA – Charlotte E. McMullen, 97, went to be at rest with the Lord on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta.
She was born October 23, 1913 in Sidney Center, the daughter of Herbert and Lula Bell (Anderson) Laraway.
Charlotte attended the Sidney Center School.
She married Gilbert A. McMullen on January 29, 1929 in Bloomville.
They lived Hobart and Stamford. On January 28, 1939 they moved to the farm in Worcester, where they raised their children. In August of 1954 they moved to Fergusonville then to West Davenport, she became a resident of A.O. Fox Nursing Home in 2003.
Charlotte sold Avon for a few years while living in Fergusonville. She worked in the Charlotte Valley Central School cafeteria, where she became the cafeteria manager until she retired.
She was a member of the Davenport United Methodist Church. She enjoyed her family, reading, word search puzzles, needlework, playing the harmonica, singing, cooking for the family, and gardening.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth McMullen, Beverly Becker, Freda and Henry Sander, Robert and Genevieve McMullen, Sr., John and Mary McMullen, Carole and Rich Angellotti, Joseph and Deborah McMullen and Richard and Deborah McMullen; a daughter-in-law, Milicent McMullen; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Leatrice Gregory and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert on March 21, 1966; her son, James McMullen and a sister, Freda Townsend.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the Oneonta Assembly of God Church, 1667 County Highway 48, Oneonta, from 10 a.m. to the Memorial Service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. John Grenier, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2011.
