Decatur—Clifford August Sondergaard, 77, passed away on, June 24, 2013, at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home.
Clifford was born, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, June 4, 1936, to Victor Christian and Ethel Agusta (Kuehn) Sondergaard.
He married Gail Below Engel in the early morning of August 15, 1981, on the Easton Reservoir in Trumbull, Ct.
He grew up in Connecticut, on a dairy farm and worked for Bridgeport Hydraulic Co. for 37 years. Clifford always loved farming and raising animals, he could grow anything and took great pride in raising hundreds of turkeys for Thanksgiving Dinners all over the United States. Clifford and Gail bought their farm in Decatur in 1981 they remodeled it on weekends and vacations and moved there in 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Gail B. Sondergaard; children, Ronald and Deborah Sondergaard; his sister, Joan & her husband, Earl Smith; granddaughter, Virginia Squires; sisters-in-law, Connie and Joan Sondergaard and many nieces and nephews.
Clifford is predeceased by his parents, Victor & Ethel Sondergaard; his sister, Dorothy & two brothers, Victor and Philmore Sondergaard and his step-daughter, Abigail (Engel) Squires.
For all who want to celebrate his life, there will be a gathering at the Sondergaard Farm on Rt. 39 in Decatur at 10 am on Saturday, June 29, 2013
