SCHENEVUS – Cody Mark Kevin McKee, 59, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011 quietly at home with his beloved cats.


He was born January 28, 1952 in Sidney, the son of Leslie McKee and Rosalie (Groat) and step-father, Glen Hodges, Sr.


Cody grew up in Walton and moved to Schenevus in 1977. Cody made his living restoring antiques for many people near and far. He was a perfectionist when it came to his passion of repairing and restoring furniture. He hand crafted missing or broken pieces to look the original. Cody was a talented artist and craftsman, he enjoyed drawing and carving wood and singing to his daughters and grandchildren. Gardening and nature hikes were great joys and comfort to Cody, and he loved sharing his great knowledge with his grandchildren.


Cody married Lynn Philips in 1975, the mother of his daughters, Heather and husband, Ron Harrington of Maryland, and Valeree Walker and fiance, Michael Hill of Worcester. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Caleb, Abby, Kallie-Mae, McKee Liem, Chris, Ivy-Maree, Kaithan-Tayte, Rosalie, Diesel and Jaxon; honorary daughters, Heather Ivers and LaRae Maldonado and their families; two brothers, Adelbert and wife, Elaine McKee of Unadilla and Steven and wife, Marie McKee of Delhi; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nieces and nephews.


He was predeceased by his parents and step-father; a brother, Glen (Henry) Hodges, Jr. and a nephew, Jody McKee.


Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Heller Funeral Home, Schenevus.


A private interment at the Ouleout Valley Cemetery in Franklin will be at the convenience of the family.


Donations may be made to a scholarship fund for his grandchildren, care of Valeree and Heather, at the Community Bank, Main St., Schenevus.
