David John Surovy passed away peacefully in his home in Westford, NY on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

He was born on September 15, 1944 in Yonkers, NY to the late David Louis Surovy & Anna Novak Surovy.

He is survived by Elizabeth Elliott Surovy, his wife of 60 years; Carole Surovy Swantek, his older sister; Elizabeth Surovy Tompkins & John Tompkins, his daughter & son-in-law; David Daniel Surovy, his son; Kaitlin, Willow & Samantha, his granddaughters & Emma, Oliver & Benjamin, his great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by Lorraine "Reenie" Surovy Madsen, his younger sister

He started his own very successful roofing business from his home in Thornwood NY in the 1970s. He moved his family & the business upstate to Worcester NY in 1985. He specialized in copper roofs & was sought out by prestigious & well-to-do businesses & home owners including the Anheuser Busch family & Buddhist Temples.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time at his lake house fishing & relaxing, gardening, BBQ-ing, feeding the birds & manicuring his lawn. He caught several trophy trout in the Kensico & Croton Reservoirs that are displayed on his walls.

He will be missed & remembered by his wit & humor, love of classical & country music, knowledge of history and mostly his immense love of his family, whom he supported & provided for in so many ways.

A graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday June 28, 2025 at the Ferncliff Cemetery, 280 Secor Rd., Hartsdale, NY, the Rev. David Lothrop officiating.
