Delilah G. Lewis' Obituary
OTEGO – Delilah G. Lewis, 71, went to be with our Lord, Monday, January 13, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 14, 1942 at Fox Hospital in Oneonta, the daughter of Walter George and Martha (Short) Gravelin.
Delilah graduated from Oneonta High School in 1960.
She married, her eternal partner, Thomas H. Lewis on June 24, 1961 at the First United Methodist Church in Oneonta. Together they had four children, six grandchildren and a lifetime of memories.
Delilah's greatest loves were her husband, her children, grandchildren, friends, the great outdoors, earth and animals. Upon Tom's retirement from the Oneonta Fire Department and her retirement as a day care provider they moved to Hilton Head Island, SC from May 1993- May 2000. They returned home when the grandchildren began arriving. Delilah made a difference in so many lives through her kindness, nurturing and loving manner. Her door was always open and she was always willing to listen and be a friend. She had fond memories of raising children, her own and many others. She loved getting together with family and friends to cook, laugh and celebrate.
She is survived by her children, Russell W. and wife, Debra Lewis of Milford, Randy and wife, Coleen Lewis of Otego, Renee and husband, Bill Stanley of Otego, Robin and husband, Thomas Liddle of Otego; grandchildren, Christopher Herrmann, Samantha Stanley, Wyatt Liddle, Georgia Liddle, Madison Stanley, and Katie Lewis; brother, Richard and wife, Kathy Gravelin of Oneonta; a niece, Michelle Grygiel; a nephew, Andrew Gravelin and their families; and many cousins. In addition to family members Delilah is survived by many friends gathered during her journey of life, love and faith.
She was predeceased by her husband, Tom on August 11, 2013.
Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.
The Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Elm Park Methodist Church, 401 Chestnut St., Oneonta.
Interment will be 10:30 am, Friday, May 30,2014 at the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.
Donations may be made to the Susquehanna SPCA, 4841 State Highway 28, Cooperstown, NY 13326.
