ONEONTA - Remembering Dennis Finn … a broadly gifted, humble, and unassuming man who gave unequivocally of his time, energy, knowledge and skills. His great love for the people and the City of Oneonta was tangible to all who encountered him.

Dennis, his mother, Julia Finn, and brother, Donald, moved to Oneonta from New Jersey in the early 1950's. He attended St. Mary's School and Oneonta High School. After graduating from Delhi College, he served in the United States Army. Upon completion of his service, Dennis moved to Long Island where he attended Hofstra as an engineering student.

Dennis worked as a consultant in the construction and engineering field for over 50 years around the state of New York. He returned to Oneonta over 10 years ago and devoted his time to serving the City. Most recently he served as Chairman of the Planning Commission, as Airport Commissioner, and had been named to the City's newly constituted Steering Committee to update the Oneonta Comprehensive Plan.

A loving, loyal and devoted father, grandfather, life partner, friend and neighbor, Dennis was always there ready to help (and then some). A passionate photographer, Dennis spent many happy hours behind his camera lens. His photographs have been on display in various locations and he enjoyed spending his summers photographing the events at the Cooperstown Dreams Park.

Dennis is survived by his beloved Ruth Allen; by his two children: daughter Kelly Lynch and son Kevin Finn (Keena); and by his 5 grandchildren: Abigail and Aidan Lynch, Aubrey, Owen, and Evan Finn.

Dennis is also survived by his twin brother Donald Finn, niece Susanne Finn, nephew Steven Finn (Rachel), and their children Julia Rae and Liam Finn.

A Remembrance with Military Honors to celebrate the life of Dennis E. Finn will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Oneonta Municipal Airport, 391 Airport Road, Oneonta.
