Oneonta – Desmond D. Moan, 60, passed away suddenly at home on December 9, 2023.

He was born April 17, 1963 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the son of Desmond J. and Margaret (Donnelly) Moan.

Desi grew up in Ridgewood, NY, and graduated from Maria Regina Diocesan High School in Uniondale, Class of 1981.  He was a football star at the Pop Warner high school and college level.  He was a lifetime avid sports fan.  He also enjoyed being a football coach.

Desi married Laurie Greene on June 22, 1996 in Hutchinson Island, Fla.

He was a gifted carpenter, working for the Carpenters Union in New York City.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie Moan; his son, Conor T. Moan; brother, Patrick Moan; nieces and nephews, Tabatha, Ryan and Erika; grandnieces and grandnephews, Alyssa, Juliette, Gianna and Jack.

He was predeceased by his parents.

A celebration of life will take place later in February 2024.
