CHARLOTTEVILLE - Donald Ralph Dahms Sr. 77 of Charlotteville, passed away Monday morning, May 28, 2012 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta, with his family by his side.
He was born June 1, 1934 in Worcester, NY, son to the late Ralph and Marjorie (Burnside) Dahms. He was raised in Charlotteville and attended Charlotte Valley Central School.
Donald married Anna G. Freiermuht on March 4, 1967.
He was predeceased by two sons, Keith and Philip from a previous marriage; a grandson, Michael Paul; as well as a brother, Howard.
He was a carpenter for most of his life, creating many memorable pieces for people. He was also Chief Deputy Sheriff of Schoharie County for seven and a half years. Recently he was the security guard of the Schenevus transfer station.
He loved hunting, fishing, and wood crafting. His favorite pastime was enjoying western music and dancing with friends and family.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Anna; children, Lisa Lorette, her husband, Mark and their children, Jonathon and Samantha of Maryland; Jeffery Parslow, his wife, Bonnie and their children, Jamey and Tammy of Davenport; Karen Lorette and her children, David and Tiffany of New Berlin; Charlene Morell, her husband, Harold and their children, Harold, Rose, Paula, and Brian of South Worcester; Donald Dahms Jr., his wife, Cheryl and children, of North Carolina; Joseph Dahms, his wife, Christy and children of Charlotteville; Geraldine Roe and children of Worcester; and Douglas Dahms of North Carolina. He is also survived by his four sisters, Olga, Cathlene, Christine, and Norma; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of 2 North at Fox Hospital in Oneonta; especially Darlene Comino and Dr. Wheeling for their compassionate care.
At Donald's request there will be a private family service held at the family's convenience at a later date.
