WORCESTER – Donald R. Partelow, 76, went to be the Lord on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, after battling cancer.
He was born December 19, 1934 in Ossining, the son of George and Anna (Bauman) Partelow.
Donald served with the United States National Guard.
He married Carole Windsor on June 3, 1961 at the Ossining United Methodist Church.
He was an Empire State Carpenter, Local Union 11, for 50 years.
Donald was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Worcester, where he served as an Elder and enjoyed working at the church functions. He was also a member of Crumhorn Rod & Gun Club and the Cherry Valley Rod & Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and mounted his own fish. Donald was a talented wood carver and excellent craftsman. He loved spending time in his garden, always having plenty to share.
Donald a kind, affectionate and sweet husband, father and brother, and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carole Partelow of Worcester; two sons, Donald Partelow of Pawling and David and wife, Jennifer Partelow of Ossining; a brother, George and wife, Marjorie Partelow of Worcester; a sister, Marjorie and husband, Charles Ackert of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Delores Curry.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the E.J. Skinner Funeral Chapel in Worcester.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church, Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Susan Wenner, officiating.
Interment will be 1 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla.
