Donald P. Tiderencel, Jr. passed away suddenly at his residence in Oneonta on Saturday April 9, 2011. He was 52.
Donald was born August 17, 1958 in Charleston, South Carolina Army Hospital to Donald P. Tiderencel Sr. and Harriet (Frederick) Tiderencel.
Born into a military family (USAF), Don grew up in Charleston, Binghamton, NY, Plattsburgh, NY, Oneonta, NY, Dover, DE, SanVito, Italy, and Vicenza, Italy. Upon his father's retirement, the family moved back to Oneonta, where Don attended his senior year at Oneonta High School graduating in 1976. Upon graduation Don joined the United States Navy.
Don served in the United States Navy as a hospital corpsman from 1976 - 1980 and 1981 - 1985 where he attended Hospital Corpsman School and Field Medical Service School. He was a National Registered Certified EMT and served aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga. He also worked at Lourdes Hospital, DiRienzo Brothers Deli, Binghamton Mets Baseball, Veteran's Industries and Janitronics of Albany, NY, and North Hampton VA Medical Center in Mass.
Donald was predeceased by his mother, Harriet Tiderencel, in 2003.
He is survived by his father, Donald P. Tiderencel Sr. and his wife, Audrey, of Dover Delaware. He leaves behind 4 children: Elease Tiderencel of Jacksonville, FL, Kristina Tiderencel of Utica, NY, Joseph Tiderencel of Coxsackie, NY, and Lorraine Tiderencel of Johnson City, NY; two granddaughters, Jayla Grace Simon and Jenna Faith Simon of Jacksonville, FL; his brother, Ronald Tiderencel (Janis) of Maryland, NY; his sister, Janice Pidgeon (Tim) of Oneonta, NY; nieces Lauren Tiderencel of Cameron, MO and Kelly Tiderencel of Oneonta, NY, nephews, Brendan and Zach Pidgeon of Oneonta, several uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind a special loved one, his long time friend, Joann Nahlovsky of North Hampton, MA.
Don enjoyed all sports - especially the Dallas Cowboy, the New York Mets, and watching his nephews play football and baseball. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his impressive knowledge of facts and trivia, in particular sports trivia and astronomy.
There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to a service to celebrate Don's life at 4:30 p.m., on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz Street in Oneonta with Father Joseph Benintende of St. Mary's Church officiating.
The committal service and burial will be next to his mother in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Emmons, 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2011.
