ONEONTA – Donna L. Hathaway, 46, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, after fighting a long battle with cancer.


She was born July 22, 1964 in Oneonta, the daughter of Duane and Mary (Colone) Hathaway.


Donna graduated from Oneonta High School, Class of 1982 and Utica School of Commerce. She was completing a four year Accounting degree at Empire State College. She was currently working for Sidney Federal Credit Union at the Oneida Street branch in Oneonta.


Donna was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oneonta, Oneonta Business Women's Club and SFCU Relay for Life.


We will not forget Donna's spunky little personality and the beautiful and unforgettable person she was. Her smile and laughter lit up the world. She was a dear friend, daughter, aunt, sister and loving mother. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, motorcycle riding, boating, fishing, dining out, dancing and shopping.


She is survived by her daughter, Ariel Kinsey; her parents, Duane and Mary Hathaway; sisters, Cheryl and Tom Thornton and Lisa Hathaway and Mike Patrick; niece, Brigid Thornton; nephew, Sean Thornton; aunts and uncles, Philip and Jeanette Colone, Arthur and Denise Colone, John and Maryann Colone, Martin Patton, Eileen Colone, Ruth and Norbert Sands; step-grandmother, Angelina Colone of Italy; and many cousins.


She was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Philip and Pauline (Sabatini) Colone; paternal grandparents, Harold and Margaret (Major) Hathaway; uncle Herman Colone; aunt Gina Colone Patton; cousins, Susan Colone, Annette Colone and Christian Sands, step-grandmother Maria Grazia Colone.


Mom, Words cannot express how much I miss and love you. You will always be my best friend and my "twin".

Aunt Donna, We love you very much and will miss you. We didn't have enough time with you, but we will cherish the time we did have. "Good times never seem so good."

Donna, We will never forget all the fun and crazy times the three of us had, dancing, singing, laughing and crying together. "Ride Sally Ride" We love you, Cheri and Lisa.

Our lives will not be the same without you, we love you and we are going to miss you. Now you are at peace, Mom and Dad.


Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Oneonta. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
