ONEONTA – Doris Beaulieu Gallagher, 85, passed away at home on Monday, January 4, 2010, after a short illness.



She was born April 6, 1924 in Oneonta, the daughter of Joseph D. and Lillian F. (Young) Beaulieu.



Doris a United States Navy veteran, serving as a Wave in World War II.



She married Charles T. Gallagher in August 14, 1946 in Oneonta. He predeceased her on December 18, 1995.



Doris was a former manager of Brackett's Bookstore. She worked for many years at the Oneonta Chamber of Commerce and most recently retired from Catskill Area Hospice.



She was an avid reader, active in sewing and gardening. She most enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends.



Over the years Doris was involved in many community organizations, including Planned Parenthood, Oneonta High School Alumni Association, Oneonta Garden Club and Catskill Area Hospice Auxiliary.



She is survived by her daughter, Denise G. and husband, James (Jack) Weeks, of Easley, SC; her son, Kevin and wife, Becky Gallagher of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Jamie and wife, Ragan Weeks of Atlanta, GA, Michelle Isbill of Atlanta, GA, Pearlessa, Heather and Brittany Gallagher, all of Cape Coral, FL and Bob Lucas of Cape Coral, FL; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.



She was predeceased by her sisters, Ruth Molineux, Jean Tremper and Virginia Simpkins.



Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta, from 10 a.m. to the memorial service at 11 a.m., with Emily VanLaeys, Life-Cycle Celebrant, officiating.
