Worcester - Dorothy (Beardsley) Austin, 96, of formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully at Otsego Manor on September 12, 2013.

Dorothy was born April 1, 1917 in Maple Shade, NJ, the daughter of Luther and Edna Schleichter. She moved to Jefferson as a young child, graduated from Jefferson Central School and lived most of her life in Worcester, NY.

She worked at Astrocom for many years. She was an active member of the Worcester Methodist United Church for many years, past member of the Worcester Women's Club. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting.

She was a beloved wife to the late Arthur Austin, and late John Beardsley; devoted mother to the late Gary D. Beardsley of Troy NY.

She is survived by her step-son, Michael Austin of Worcester; step-daughters, Janet Ten Eyck of Pasadena, Calif. and Marianne Illenberg of Wheeling; grandchildren, Carl (Diane) Beardsley of South Carolina, Joan (Bruce) Martelle of Delmar, G. Dennis Beardsley (Erika) of Schodack, NY and great grandchildren, Megan and Derek Martelle, Ryan and Charlotte Beardsley, and Jillian Liguori.

Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to Noon on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, with the funeral service at Noon, at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel in Worcester, with the Rev. Susan Wenner, officiating.

Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester.
