Obituary

Oneonta, NY - Dorothy Jenks Lansing, 92, passed away on May 26, 2011 after a long illness at the Oneonta Rehabilitation Center and Nursing Home.


Born in Otsdawa, New York on February 5, 1919, Dorothy was the daughter of J. Frederick and Mae (Snook) Jenks.


Dorothy graduated from Oneonta High School and married the late Clifford Emerson, U.S. Air Force, in 1941. Airman Emerson perished while serving in the Pacific Theatre in World War II. Dorothy met her future husband, Roland C. Lansing while they both worked for the U.S. Post Office in Oneonta, NY. Dorothy and Roland were married on September 20, 1947 and enjoyed 48 years together before Roland passed away in 1995.


Dorothy was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oneonta where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Women's Association.



Dorothy was a loving and devoted mother to her four children: Marla (Emerson) Santos (Lawrence) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Robert Lansing (Louise) of Oneonta, New York, Linda (Lansing) Conaway of East Greenbush, New York and Cynthia (Lansing) Hefti (Jonathan) of Manlius, New York. Dorothy was the beloved grandmother to Scott Santos (Brittany) and Laura (Santos) Ruby (Rick), Thomas and Steven Lansing, Rachael and Alexander Conaway, and Kristen and Jennifer Hefti. Dorothy was also the proud great-grandmother to seven beautiful children.



As to honor Dorothy's wishes, a family memorial will be held in the near future. Burial will be at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
