ONEONTA – Edith A. Morse, 86, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2007 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
She was born March 22, 1921 in Middlefield, the daughter of Earl and Pearl (Chase) Alpaugh.
She was a graduate of Cherry Valley Central School, Class 1939.
On June 15, 1947 she married Carl L. Morse in Cherry Valley. He predeceased her on March 6, 1980.
Mrs. Morse was employed for many years at the New York Telephone Co. as a clerk, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Oneonta and the Telephone Pioneers.
Mrs. Morse is survived by two sons, Frederick C. Morse and Ralph E. Morse, both of Oneonta; two grandsons, Bryon J. and his wife, Heather Morse and Kevin R. and his wife, Alysa Morse, of Oneonta; three great grandchildren, Isaak, Avery and David Morse; a sister, Lillian Timer of Mt. Vision; a sister-in-law, Mary Alpaugh of Cobleskill; a brother-in-law, Glenn H. Morse of Laurens and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Earl and Clyde Alpaugh and a sister, Marian Collins.
Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 17, 2007 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home in Oneonta.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas Clemow, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Oneonta, officiating.
The interment will follow at the Cook Cemetery in West Oneonta.
