Obituary

HOMESTEAD, FL – Edward G. Kassler died Monday, March 7, 2011 in Homestead, FL.

He was born July 21, 1923 in New York City to Joseph and Theresa Kassler.

During World War II Ed served in the Pacific Theatre with the Army's 617th Engineers.

He taught at St. Rose School in Carbondale, PA for 21 years. He was employed at State University College at Oneonta for 24 years.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Dockery Kassler, whom he married on August 24, 1947; a daughter, Geraldine A. McCulley and her companion, John Paradis of Oneonta; a son, Joseph E. Kassler and his wife, Dotty of Buffalo; daughters, Gail P. Stone and her husband, Keith of Temple, TX, Loretta S. Holstein and her husband, Greg of Palm Harbor, FL, Celeste M. Kassler of Moscow, ID; six grandchildren, Erin McCulley Davis, Sean P. McCulley, Katy Kassler, Christy Kassler, Jason R. Plaskon and Chase Stone.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, and a daughter, Deanna.

Friends may visit with the family at 9:30 a.m. with the a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta, with the Rev. Bernard Ampong, St. Mary's Catholic Church, officiating.

Burial will be in the East Meredith Cemetery with military honors.
