Obituary

MT. VISION – Edward L. Ryder, beloved husband of Karen (Harkenreader) Ryder, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010, after a short courageous battle with cancer.

Ed was born May 18, 1938 in Brooklyn, the son of Edward and Marie Ryder.

He lived in Brooklyn and relocated to Mt. Vision in 1982. He married Karen, the love of his life and his true soul mate in 2003. They only had 11 years together but, it was a great marriage and friendship.

Ed was a teamster for many years working for Shell Oil Company. In recent years, he drove bus for the ARC Otsego and was a family care provider with his wife, Karen for their three men, Dan, Gary and Walter. He will be greatly missed by a large family of love.

Besides his wife, Ed is survived by his sons, Edward and his wife, Kathy and their children, Matt, Megan, Casey and Andrew; Michael and his fiancée, Charlene; Robert and his wife, Lisa and their children, Justin and Nicholas; his daughter, Alice and her husband, Chris and their children, Jack and Sarah. He also is survived by four step-children, Jonathan and his companion, Evie and her son, Darberto; Jordan; Jessica; and Jeannine and her companion, Ryan. He also had his special grandchildren, his "silly" Lillie and his little "moose" MacKenzie. Ed very much appreciated the time he had to spend with his beloved grandchildren. Ed has also left behind his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joyce and Frank Harkenreader. Frank was not only his father-in-law but his best friend. He has also left behind many extended family members and friends.

Thank you to Catskill Area Hospice, Rev. Judith Thistle, family and friends for all your love and support in our time of need.
