EDWARD J. SERDY
WORCESTER - Edward J. Serdy, 82, of Worcester passed away Saturday June 17, 2006 at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
He was born on June 1, 1924 in Braddock, PA, son of John and Mary (Rosipajla) Serdy.
Edward married Mary Tkac on June 7, 1947 in Montreal, Canada. She predeceased him on September 28, 2003.
He was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corp. 2523rd AAF Base Unit serving as an aerial gunner in the European Theater during WWII.
Edward was a tool & die maker working at Electrolux in Norwalk, CT for over thirty years before retiring.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, St. Benedict Holy Name Society, VFW Post 9617, American Legion Post 0001, JEDNOTA and the Knight's of Columbus. Edward was an avid reader and collector.
He is survived by his children, Barbara and her husband, Robert Kersman of Worcester, their children, Desiree and husband, Kevin Bennison and Zachary and wife, Becky Kersman; Edward and wife, Linda Serdy of Worcester, their children, Andrew Serdy and the soon to be deployed to Iraq, Army Sgt. Edward and his wife, Stacey Serdy and children, Anna and Emma; Robert and wife, Karen Serdy of Sandwich, MA, their children, Sara, Matthew and Lauren Serdy; a sister-in-law, Anne Ragen and her family; a brother-in-law, Michael Tkac and his family all of Montreal, Canada and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Lawrence Serdy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2006 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Main St., Worcester with the Rev. Edward Golding as celebrant.
Burial with military honors will follow at the St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 21, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 155 Main St., Worcester.
