Schoharie – Edward Ronald Smith, 67, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 24, 2026.
Born on March 23, 1959, in Worcester, NY, he was the son of Martha Jane Smith and Ronald Smith.
Ed worked for more than 35 years as a janitor with Arc Lexington (formerly Schoharie ARC), where he was appreciated for his friendly and sociable nature. He had a special love for Elvis and school buses, and his warm conversations and sense of humor brought joy to family and friends alike.
He is survived by his sisters, Margaret and her husband John Banks and Florence Hamm; his brothers, Daniel Hamm and Walter Hamm; his nieces, Rowena Smith, Christine Banks, and Tiffany Motter; his nephews, John Banks, Joseph Banks, and Dean Fort; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Linda Smith-DeMarco, and his brother, Richy Smith.
Calling hours will be held at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 30, at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester. The Rev. Rus Underwood will officiate. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester, with a gathering and refreshments to follow at the Worcester Fire House.
