Obituary

SCHENEVUS – Edward E. Snyder, 70, passed away quietly at home on December 6, 2011.

He was born June 30, 1941 in Schenevus, the son of Andrew L. and Luella A. (Race) Snyder.

Ed married Sharon Bramsen on June 1, 1963 at the Lutheran Church of the Atonement in Oneonta.

He was a United State Navy veteran serving from 1959 to 1961.

Ed was a life long contractor, owning and operating Snyder's Builders with his son Tom.

He was a 43 year member of both the C.H. Graham Hose Co. and the Schenevus-Maryland Emergency Squad. Ed was a participant in Otsego County's first class for Advance Life Support, obtaining an EMT3 status. He was a former member of the Elks Club, a member of AmVets and has been actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America for 40 years, as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, and enjoyed the time he spent every year at the Henderson Scout Reservation building, re-building and maintaining the various buildings and sites.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Snyder of Schenevus; his son, Thomas E. and Christina J. Snyder of Schenevus and children, Thomas Jacob "TJ" and Cassandra "Goose"; his son, John A. Snyder and Jackie Reynolds of Waverly and children, Courtney, Whitney and Justin; two sisters, Emma Jean and Wilburn Boarders of Florida and Loretta and James Steinman of Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Carolyn Sue Snyder and his parents.

Calling hours will be held Friday, December 9, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Heller Funeral Home, in Schenevus.

The funeral service will be Saturday, December 10th at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Keith VanDewerker, officiating.

Interment with military honors will follow at the Schenevus Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Otschodela Council, Boy Scouts of America, PO Box 1356, Oneonta, NY 13820 for the preservation of the Henderson Scout Reservation.
