Maryland - Edwin Charles Nirschl, 83, passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2025.

He was born January 15, 1942, in Patriot, NY, the son of Anton and Elinor (Stanton) Nirschl. Edwin was the seventh born of 12; Tony, Margaret, Josephine, Robert, Betty, Beverly, Allen, Richard, David, Stephen and Susan.

He grew up in the Sharon Springs area. He worked at his family's farm and also in construction. He retired from the Town of Sharon after 20 years of employment.

Edwin loved to socialize. He was an excellent storyteller and enjoyed a good conversation. He never met a stranger. He was always willing to help anyone who was in need. He was an enthusiastic outdoorsman and an avid hunter.

He is survived  by his wife, Kathy (Hitchcock Morell) Nirschl, whom he married on May 14, 2005; his children, Amanda, Robbie, Denise, Micheal and Matthew Nirschl, Michelle and Jody Sperbeck, Renay Morell, Cherri and Shannon Jones; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; as well as his close friends,  Dave Relyea, Brian Sperbeck, Tim Card, Cory Spooner, and many other dear friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, several of his siblings and his grandson Logan Haner.

Visitation will be 4:30 PM to 5 PM, with a celebration of life service at 5 PM on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Word Of Faith Church, 6568 State Highway 7, Maryland, NY. Time for refreshments and fellowship will immediately follow the service at the church.

Donations may be made in Edwin's memory to the American Cancer Society.
