HARTWICK - Elaine E. Nichols born on May 17, 1938 to Edgar Perry and Rosetta (Utter) (Perry) Card, in a Laurens nursing home on the way to the hospital in Oneonta, because she just could not wait to enter the world.

Elaine answered her Lord's call on February 25, 2018 with her loving family by her side.

She was a devoted dog and cat owner and loved anything to do with dogs and cats. Her favorite past-time was to crochet items for family and friends.  Elaine was a life long member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oneonta.  She loved her church family.  One of the things that gave her the most joy was singing in the church choir.

Elaine worked at Jamesway and Wal-Mart for many years, making many friends along the way.

She is survived by her sisters, Maude Baldo of Hartwick and Regina Decarr and family of Oneonta; nephew, Michael Angell and family of Oneonta; nieces, Debbie Horth and family of Hartwick and Gail Yager and family of Oneonta.

She was predeceased by her parents; her stepfather, Harold Card; her husbands, Lloyd Stiefel and Richard Nichols; brother-in-law, Gerald Armstrong; and her nephew, Bryan Angell.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. March 10, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, Oneonta. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Elaine's name may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 296 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820.
