Obituary

ONEONTA – Eleanor (Iny) D. LeVeille, 90, of Goodyear Lake, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 15, 2012. She died peacefully at A.O. Fox Hospital due to pancreatic cancer.

Iny was born in Oneonta March 24, 1922, the middle daughter of Leo and Mary (Loucks) Matthews. She attended schools in Oneonta and Otego, graduating from Oneonta High School in 1941.

On November 1, 1941, she married James Leveille at the River Street Baptist Church parsonage in Oneonta. They would have celebrated their 71st anniversary this year. They have resided at Goodyear Lake for 60 years.

Iny retired in 1981 as manager of the Montgomery Ward catalog store in Oneonta. She had also worked at Sears, Roebuck & Co.

She was a member of the Retreads Motorcycle Club and she and Jim were founding members of the local chapter. Through the Retreads, they met many wonderful friends locally, in the New England area and along the east coast. In their retirement years, they enjoyed traveling on their motorcycle throughout the United States to all the lower 48 states and Alaska, as well as all the provinces of Canada and into Mexico.

Iny possessed a God-given gift of joy and a love for others. With her warm personality and quick wit, she made friends wherever she went. She loved to laugh and to make others laugh. She will be greatly missed by so many.

She is survived by her husband, Jim of Goodyear Lake; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jim Pearce of Goodyear Lake; her grandson, Eric Pearce of Chicago; her sister, Viola Matthews of Syracuse; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Arthur Frohrib and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and Marian LeVeille.

Calling hours will be 3 to 6 p.m., Friday, October 19th at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, October 20th at the funeral home, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, officiating. Interment will follow at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
