GILBERTSVILLE – Elizabeth L. Crandall, 77, passed away July 17, 2015 at The Focus at Otsego.
She was born July 3, 1938 in Jamaica, NY the daughter of John and Louisa (Goshell) Hundt.
Betty attended P.S. 52 grades 1-8, then Andrew Jackson High School 9 – 11 grades on Long Island, moved to Westford and graduated from Andrew S. Draper, Schenevus, June 25, 1956.
From 1966 to 1995 Betty worked in the Otsego County Auditor and Clerk of the Board office. After retiring, she continued working until 1999 at various jobs such as waitressing at Walt's Restaurant, the SUCO Bookstore and working rodeo's with her husband Mark.
Betty was a member of Milford American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1566. She was one of the three people who formed Westford Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and served as their First President, and was a past member of Milford Ladies Traveling Bowling Team. Betty always had a smile and a love for her family.
She is survived by her beloved family; her children, William J. Peeters of Gilbertsville, Thomas M. Peeters and Connie, of Leonardsville, Phillip O. Peeters and Cheryl, of Worcester, and Linda M. Benjamin and Paul, of Burlington Flats; her sister, Honey and Bill Platt of Westford; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews; 5 cousins: special people Eleanor Mahnken, Bill Goshell and Barbara Prindle.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister Frances Loftus and husband, Mark Crandall.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m. with an American Legion Auxiliary service prior to the funeral at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, officiating, Thursday, July 23rd at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester.
