Laurens - Ellen Louise Bush, 70, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

She was born August 26, 1946 in Oneonta, the daughter of Bernard and Cora (Bebe) Bullis.

Ellen graduated from Otego Central School and received her bachelors degree from SUNY Oneonta.

She married Donald R. Bush on June 12, 1965 at the First Baptist Church in Oneonta.

Ellen was a substitute Home Economics teacher at Oneonta High School and the Utica school district. She was employed for many years at Planned Parenthood in Oneonta.

She was always very busy. She enjoyed her sewing groups over the years, creating loving gifts for many and was an avid reader. She was the President of the Laurens American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and while living in Arizona for 11 years was active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Donald R. Bush of Laurens; her two sons, DJ (Tisha) Bush of Otego and Jim Bush of Otego; grandchildren, Nicholas, Tamara, Renee and Corey; 1 great-grandson, Damien; 3 sisters, Elizabeth (Bill) Spade of Illinois, Donna (Bill) Gravelin of Laurens and Susan (Charles) Fix of Pennsylvania; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her parents.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Laurens American Legion, 176 Main St., Laurens, with a reception to follow.

A private burial will take place at the Laurens Cemetery.
