ONEONTA - Eloise (Lois) H. Kramer, 89, passed away Monday, April 9, 2007 at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
She was born September 17, 1917, the daughter of Earl I. and Letha (Hinman) Hoke in the Town of New Lisbon and the first and only grandchild born on the farm of the family homestead of Eber Hinman.
Her husband, Louis J. Kramer died on August 29, 1974.
Lois was also a graduate of Laurens Central School, Class of 1935.
In 1957, she began working for the City of Oneonta starting in the Engineering Department, advancing to Deputy City Clerk and later to Deputy Purchasing Agent, retiring in 1983.
Lois was a member of the Elm Park Methodist Church, CSEA/AFSCME Retirees and Retired Public Employees Association. While working, she served on Otsego County C.S.E. Federal Credit Union-now SFCU as a collector and on the Board of Directors for 11 years. For the City, she was appointed to the Board of Appeals and the Board of Ethics and was a Notary Public from 1958 to 1982.
She was fond of sports, especially bowling and gardening, always looking forward to summer months to spend time with her flowers and giving them to friends.
Lois is survived by her daughters, Anne M. Kramer and Gale L. Silvernail and her husband Roger; a granddaughter, Stacy A. Sawyer and her husband Brian; four great grandchildren, Cody, Kali, Ryan and Connor Sawyer, as well as several nephews, a niece, and cousins.
She was predeceased by a sister Beverly Grace Hoke and two brothers, Kendall Hoke and Harold Hoke .
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Eileen J. Cornwell, pastor of the Elm Park United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.
