Erma Jean Stam's Obituary
ONEONTA - Erma Jean Stam, 82, resided in Oneonta, NY and Jacksonville, FL, died November 7, 2012 in Jacksonville, FL unexpectedly.
She was born November 12, 1929 in McKeesport, PA, the daughter of Eunice Diddle and the Reverend Frederick Diddle; one of twelve children.
Jean married to Garth Ruuard Stam on June 26, 1953 in Rochester NY.
She attended Roberts Wesleyan College and graduated from SUNY Oneonta and received a Masters degree from Wheelock college in Boston, MA.
She was a Co-founder of Main Street Baptist Church Nursery School and Founder of TLC Child Care Center Oneonta, NY.
Jean was known for her endless community service with The Lord's Table, Seratoma Club and her beloved church Oneonta Assembly of God. And also was the greatest fan of O-State soccer team!
She is survived by her husband, Garth Stam; children, Craig Allen Stam, Mark Steven Stam and wife, Laura, Dana Stam Woods and husband, Robert, and Donnajean Foster and husband, Daniel; grandchildren, Pace, Marjorie, and Avery Woods, Connor and Jensen Stam, Devin, Dyana, Dylan and Danie Foster, Morgan and Madison Stam; her siblings, Rachael Sedwick, Gerard Diddle, Marian Richardson, and Donald Diddle; many other loved family members. There are so many that loved her. Our family thanks you all for your help. She will be dearly missed.
She is predeceased by her parents and seven of her siblings.
The family will greet friends at 4 p.m. with the memorial service starting at 5 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2012. at the Oneonta Assembly of God Church, 1667 County Highway 48, Oneonta, NY.
The family will again greet friends at 9 a.m. with the funeral service starting at 10 a.m., Tuesday November 13th, at the Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 North Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown PA. Interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, please make gifts in memory of Jean to College at Oneonta Foundation. Note in memo that your gift is for the "Garth Stam Scholarship". Send to: College at Oneonta Foundation, 308 Netzer Administration Building, SUNY Oneonta, Oneonta, NY 13820.
