Oneonta - Ernest L. Parsons Sr., 88, passed away Friday, September 15, 2006 at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born on July 9, 1918 in Sherman, PA, the son of Myron J. and Rachel (Lenox) Parsons.

Ernest married Emma L. Boschetti on September 27, 1947 at the Ouleout Church.

He served in the United States Army during WWII.

Ernest was a head custodian for the Oneonta City School District.

He was a lifelong area resident and a member of the Assembly of God Church, the Oneonta Moose Club and the Oneonta VFW Post 259. Ernest coached Oneonta Little League Baseball and was a Cubscout Leader.

He is survived by his wife, Emma; two daughters, Tina Sperry and Don Crawford of Laurens and Suellen Marmet and her husband, Jerry of Oneonta; 3 sons, Ernest L. Parsons Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of Ventura, CA, Timothy D. Parsons and his wife Liz, of Cooperstown and Steven J. Parsons and his wife, Linda of Quakertown, PA; his grandchildren, Julie, Jeremy, Jason, Craig, Jenna, Kim, Lori and Sarah; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters and a grandson, Shane Marmet.

A private graveside service will be held at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

There will be no calling hours.
