Ernestine R. (Goracke ) Currie of South Gibson, Pennsylvania (formerly of Oneonta, New York) was born on September 4, 1939 in Salina, Kansas to Ernest and Angeline (Sebek) Goracke.

She passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 6, 2024 in South Gibson, Pennsylvania at the age of 84 years and 7 months.

Ernestine grew up on a farm in Minneapolis, Kansas. She attended high school in Minneapolis, Kansas and graduated in May of 1957. Ernestine met her husband while he was stationed at Schilling Air Force Base in Salina Kansas and on February 8, 1958 she was united in marriage to Richard G. Currie of Davenport, New York at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina, Kansas. In 1961 they moved to Oneonta, New York where they resided for over 60 years. Ernestine was a homemaker and also worked as an in-home caregiver. She enjoyed family time, her beloved pets, reading, word search puzzles and bird watching.

She is survived by her children, Anthony (Luann) Currie of Donnelly, Idaho, Cynthia (Dean) Avery of Gresham, Nebraska and Theresa (Sandy) LoSapio of South Gibson, Pennsylvania; grandsons, Michael (Megan) LoSapio of Thompson, Pennsylvania, Eric Currie of Cascade, Idaho, Jeremy Currie of Boise, Idaho; sister, Doreine Sleek of Salina, Kansas; sister-in-law, Dorothy D'Esposito of Sarasota, Florida, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents, Ernest and Angeline Goracke; infant brother, Clarence Goracke; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roy and Jeanette Currie, Walter and Donna  Currie; brothers-in-law, Jim D'Esposito and Russell Sleek Sr.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in the Highland Cemetery in Minneapolis, Kansas.
