Obituary

Oneonta – Evaline P. Schultheis, 83, passed away Wednesday, December 06, 2006 at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta.

She was born April 23, 1923 in Oneonta, the daughter of Harry Hitchcock Sr. and Pearl (Sickler) Hitchcock.

She married Merritt Schultheis on October 11, 1975 in Morris.

Evaline drove a mail truck in the early and late 1960's and resided in Laurens for 30 years. She was a member of the Oneonta Moose Lodge, the Eagle's Club, American Legion and the 6th Ward Athletic Club.

She loved to dance, especially the jitterbug, go bowling and play shuffleboard. She enjoyed fishing and traveling. Most of all she loved her children. A special part of her life were her dogs, Precious, Sheba, Star I and Star II.

Evaline is survived by her daughter, Linda Glasner of Unadilla; two sons, Carmen Vagliardo Jr. and wife, Vicki of Oneonta, and Tony Martin Jr. and wife, Melissa of Rockville, Conn.; a stepdaughter, Cyndy Howe and husband, Ron of Locke; a sister, Dinah Yoder of Johnson City; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by husband, Merritt Schultheis on September 3, 1982; her mother, Pearl Hitchcock; her brother, Harry Hitchcock Jr.; her sister, Doris (Hitchcock) Ward; her son-in-law, Don Glasner.

The family would like to thank Fox Hospital and the Nursing Home staff for all the love and care they gave to Evaline during her illness. A special thank you to Tonya Southworth, Senior County Office of the Aging, for all the help and guidance you gave her over the years.

A private service will be held for the immediate family.
