Evelyn Strong, 79, passed away, Monday, January 13, 2020 at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta.

She was born on November 23, 1940 in Maryland, NY; the daughter of Seward and Ethel (Watson) Houghton.

Evelyn was a lifelong area resident who worked at A.O. Fox Hospital as a unit secretary for 40 years.

She enjoyed crocheting, especially baby blankets for family and friends.

Evelyn is survived by her significant other Victor Chicorelli, 2 daughters, Betty (Robert) Krajcovic of Otego and Brenda (Mike) Davis of Oneonta, her son Robert (Lori) Strong of St. Augustine, Florida, her grandchildren, Catherine, Terry (Cindy), Jeffrey (Kristina), Melissa (Nate), great grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, Lily, Dakota, Vanessa (Ryan), Gregory (Lily) Vincent and Sebastian.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Arlene Scutt and her brother Seward Houghton Jr.

A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz Street in Oneonta with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, officiating. A calling hour will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the service time at 1:30 p.m.

Burial will take place at a later date at the Schenevus Cemetery.
