WORCESTER - Father Ronald L. Green of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers died on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Maryknoll, New York. He was 64 years old and a Maryknoll priest for 32 years.
He was born in Monroe, Michigan, on March 1, 1953, the son James Paul and Noreen (Fortman) Green. He was proud to be a Spartan and was a South Rockwood, Michigan Police Officer for 4 years.
Father Green entered Maryknoll during September 1979. He was ordained on June 8, 1985 and served in mission in Kenya, Tanzania, East Africa for 10 years. He became fluent in Swahili and 5 tribal languages. He was Assistant Director of Pastoral Care and Resident Priest Chaplain at Terence Cardinal Cooke Healthcare Center in East Harlem, New York for 15 years. From March 2009 until earlier this year, he was an Administrator of St. Joseph's Parish in Worcester, New York.
His survivors include a brother, Gary Green of Cairo, Michigan and several cousins. His parents, brother, Charles Green and an infant brother, Michael Thomas Green, predeceased him.
There will be a Rosary Service at 3:30 p.m. followed by calling hours 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main Street, Worcester.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by The Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger at 11 a.m. Monday, August 14 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 201 Main Street, Worcester, followed by burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Per Father Green's request, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Church, PO Box 156, Worcester, NY 12197.
