Ferdinand "Frank" Thomas, 69, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
He was born on May 29, 1944 in New Hyde Park, NY.
Frank was married to Elizabeth Miller.
He served in the United States Marine Corp. from 1962-1968 during the Vietnam War.
Frank was a New York City police officer for many years. After retiring from the NYPD, he worked at the Charlotte Valley Central School.
Frank was an active member of the Davenport Fire Department and part of a "pit crew" for a race car team.
He is survived by his wife Liz, his step-son Ronald Stannard and his wife Tina and their children Samantha Kniskern and Zachary Kniskern, his mother-in-law, Carol Miller, his brother-in-laws, Carl (Janet) Miller, Kevin Miller, Alan (Ester) Miller and Brian Miller, his sister-in-laws, Cathy (John) Miller and Connie Chase and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father-in-law Carl Miller and his sister-in-law Helen Stannard.
A celebration of Frank's life will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Davenport Fire Department with the Rev. Alan Miller, officiating.
