Obituary

Florence Emily Kespert passed away peacefully on August 10, 2019 at A.O. Fox Hospital, Oneonta.  She was 86.

Florence was born July 19, 1933 in White Sulphur Springs, NY.  She was the daughter of Dorothy and Leo Bryan.  She graduated from Liberty High School.

On May 16, 1953 in Liberty, NY Florence married Harold Kespert.  They settled down in Youngsville, NY to raise their family.  They were happily married for 51 years.

Florence worked for NYSEG in Liberty, New York for twenty years.  While living in Youngsville, Florence and Harold were members of the Happy Footers Western Style Square Dance Club. They did the "do-si-do" across New York State, in Washington, Oregon and California.  They traveled around the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska.  They enjoyed tours of Canada and Caribbean cruises.

Upon retirement in 1988, Florence and Harold moved to High Point, Florida. She became active in sewing guilds, making lap robes and walker bags for nursing home residents.  They later moved to Inverness, Florida.  Florence was widowed in 2004 and remained in Inverness until 2014 when she moved to the Plains in Oneonta, NY.  Florence became a member of the Susquehanna Valley Quilters and made placemats for Meals on Wheels recipients.

Florence was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Oneonta. She will be remembered for her love of hummingbirds, Reuben sandwiches and her pineapple upside down cake recipe.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Florence is survived by her sister, Gloria Porter of Grahamsville, NY; her brother, Leslie (Gloria) Bryan of Carrolton, GA; her daughters, Laurie (Thomas) Trelease of Oneonta, NY and Kathy (Mike) Orr of Princeton, ID; her grandchildren, Brian (Kelli) Orr of Powell, WY, Kevin Orr of Onalaska, WA, Colleen (Emmanuel) Corral of Liberty Lake, WA, Eric (Jennifer) Trelease of Potsdam, NY and Andrew (Tina) Trelease of Philadelphia, PA.

Florence had ten great-grandchildren, Jacob and Emily Orr, Dean, Sam and May Florencia Corral, Eleora, Silas, Abraham, Hannah Florence and Caleb Trelease.

Florence was also loved by her nephew, Ed (Linda) Porter, her niece, Cheryl Porter, her friend, Paul Miller and friend, Marge McLeod.

The family would like to especially thank the doctors and nurses of A.O. Fox Hospital and A.O. Fox Memorial Nursing Home for their kindness and compassion.

A service to honor the life of Florence Kespert will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday August 24, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church, 296 Main St. Oneonta, NY.  The service will be officiated by the Rev. Mark Montfort.
